Last year, we hiked the Greenwood Spur Trail, now the extended northern terminus of the Standing Stone Trail. The rhododendrons were in full bloom, and it was a fantastic day… but unfortunately I lost most of my photos. Here are a few of the remaining ones:
Also in 2019, Dad and I revisited the Rocky Knob Loop in Michaux State Forest, which was so flooded we had to do a bit of off-trail hiking in the lower section.
The 10.9-mile section of Appalachian Trail from Caledonia State Park to Big Flat is one of the best sections of trail in the state, and is a good nearby training ground for bigger hikes to come. Here are some shots from our latest trip along this stretch:
