July 28, 2020, I completed a much-longer-than-anticipated day hike to Gladstone Peak via the Cross Mountain Trail and Lizard Head Pass. The scenery was some of the best I’ve ever captured in Colorado, but the route itself, Gladstone’s south ridge–was rotten, loose, steep and exposed.
My Dad and Greg, meanwhile, followed the great trail to the pass, and turned around there.
The following two days, all three of us would hike together for a fantastic trip to Cataract Lake and Half Peak. We hiked along numerous waterfalls, had some close encounters with moose, and enjoyed a bluebird summit day.
