This afternoon, we had just enough light left for a two-hour hike in Cunningham Falls State Park. Uncle John, Dad and I took Hunter with us to the Cat Rock Trail, which starts off of Rt. 77. It continues gently up the slopes to an outcropping called—you guessed it—Cat Rock. Uncle John and I scrambled up to the top to enjoy some good views, mostly of the surrounding snow-covered forested slopes. Then we all continued up the trail to the ridge-top. Up until this point it had mostly been big woods with no understory, but along this flat top was a good bit of mountain laurel and some deer sign—though not a lot. Eventually we decided to turn around and head back down to the truck. Even at the late hour and near dark, we passed several people, and a couple dogs, who were on their way up. Altogether, it was a nice Sunday afternoon stroll of about 4.5 miles.
