Black Canyon of the Gunnison is in the middle of nowhere, high desert Colorado, but it is definitely worth the visit. One of the best views from the north rim is reached via a 0.6-mile stroll to the “Chasm View.”
Black Canyon is narrow and deep–something to the effect of 2,700 feet–straight down.
Balanced Rock was a neat rock formation the size of a house, looking ready to fall at any moment:
